Review:
I’ve read most of Laura Barnard’s work and have found them to be addictive stories that I’m happy to power through, stories that have me laughing with the antics that occur. I’ve been curious about The Debt & The Doormat for a while and was happy to dive into it to see what this one would offer.
I’ll be honest and say this isn’t my favourite book from the author. It has me hooked and curious to see how the pieces came together, but it didn’t have the level of laughter that some of the author’s other books have offered. Sure, there were some moments when I was laughing. Mostly, I found things were a bit much. A lot happened in this one, and I feel I would have enjoyed it more if there hadn’t been quite so much mayhem in the story – as it was, everything seemed to happen and it lessened the impact of the events.
Although not my favourite from the author, it does have me curious to see what happens to the characters in the next book.

The Baby & the Bride is the second of Laura Barnard’s series following Poppy and Jazz, and it’s a story with plenty packed into it. Although I enjoyed this more than the first book, I would not label this a favourite from the author.
If you’ve read The Debt & the Doormat, you’ll be eager to see what happens next for the characters. With this one, a lot happens, pulling us deeper into the story. There was more laughter in this one, plenty of elements that ensure you’re happy to power through the pages, but I did feel like some details were a bit too predictable. Despite this, I was hooked.
Without a doubt, this one is worth grabbing if you enjoyed the first book, and it will leave you eager to see what the next book brings.

Porn Money & Wannabe Mummy is the third book following Poppy and Jazz, and it’s my favourite of the series. There was plenty of laughter packed into this one, ensuring you’re happy to power through the pages to see how everything comes together.
Although this can be read as a standalone, it’ll hit harder if you’ve read the two prior books and know the characters. There is plenty of development in this one, and it’s great to see how far the characters have come from when we were first introduced to them. With two contrasting storylines, this conclusion to the series brings things together in a wonderful way. It deals with heavy issues whilst offering humour, sucking you in with every detail.
Without a doubt, if you’ve read the prior books you need to see how things end for the characters.
