Review: Deep Blue

I really wanted to love Deep Blue. I really enjoyed Jennifer Donnelly’s A Gathering Light and the idea of a mermaid series had me super excited. Unfortunately, this one did not work for me.

Deep Blue was far too formulaic for me. It had too many of the young adult tropes, and it was clear what was coming with a lot of things before it happened. Sure, it was happening underwater, but that wasn’t enough to win me over. Add in the fact that the leading character really annoyed me and this one became difficult to get through.

I’m sure many will enjoy this one, but it wasn’t for me.
