Snapshot by Brandon Sanderson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Snapshot is another of Brandon Sanderson’s quick reads, and in my quest to find out more about Brandon Sanderson I decided I would give this one a go. I know I said when reading the Legion books that I believed I was more likely to enjoy his full-length fantasy novels, but I’m saving them for next year. As Snapshot was sitting in the library, though, I decided I would give it a try.
Snapshot contains two things I really enjoy – an interesting science fiction element and a detective story. When you mix the two together, I’m sure to enjoy it. Which is exactly what happened here. Although I gave this one a three-star rating, it was actually more of a three-point-five-star rating. The reason I opted to round down rather than up is because I wanted a bit more than we were given, I would have liked to have delved even deeper into the story. Nevertheless, despite this, I had a lot of fun with Snapshot.
Snapshot provides us with a different kind of mystery story, one that has you intrigued as to how everything is going to come together. It’s one of those stories that contains more elements than you would think, ensuring you’re hooked throughout. Moreover, it has one of those endings that is likely to surprise you. It’s one of those cases where I wanted to slap myself for failing to realise what was coming, yet I had so much fun watching the way things played out in the end.
Without a doubt, Snapshot has ensured I’m even more eager to dive into one of Brandon Sanderson’s series come next year.
